Job description

THE ROLE

The Instructional Designer will perform an important role in planning, developing and optimising instructional materials, including online courses, user support guides, instruction manuals, multimedia training modules and assessments to support the system user moment of learning need for the government department.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design, develop and deliver engaging interactive online learning course, content and materials via digital eLearning environments and the established content approval processes.
  • Develop high quality, graphically consistent and professionally designed online learning resources including demonstration and animation videos and concept graphics using software simulation tools e.g. ADOBE Captivate, Articulate 360 Storyline or similar
  • Develop detailed storyboards, templates, and resources to enable the production of solutions (classroom, eLearning, video etc.)
  • Develop Trainer manuals, rubrics and other teaching tools and coach Trainers in how to use learning technologies as required.

REQUIREMENTS

  • 3- 5 years' experience in a similar role e.g. developing learning resources (software simulation/screencasts, video-based learning, technical webinars, virtual classrooms, e-learning courses, instructor-led courses or Help articles and technical user guides).
  • Proven ability to integrate adult learning theory and instructional design methodology into an appropriate mix of delivery media.
  • Experience and skills in online learning development and associated technologies (e.g. SCORM; Learning Management Systems, Camtasia, Articulate 360)
  • Highly developed writing and editing skills, with an eye for detail when it comes to grammar, spelling, punctuation, consistency and adherence to an organisation's documentation standards
