Job description

Our client, a Large QLD State Government department is seeking a Dedicated Senior DevOps Engineer to join them in their Digital, Technology and Information group to implement Strategic Technology Frameworks across the department.

THE ROLE

As the Senior DevOps Engineer you will be responsible for the design, implementation, and management of scalable, reliable, and secure infrastructure for the Departments cloud services development and deployment processes.

This role involves close collaboration with development, operations, and security teams to streamline and automate workflows, ensuring the smooth and efficient delivery of software products.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Development, implementation, and review of continuous improvement projects for but not limited to Azure and AWS cloud platforms and services through the use of continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines, infrastructure as code (IaC) and automation of the software development lifecycle.
  • Act as a point of escalation for technical issues, providing effective and efficient problem-solving expertise while maintaining formal request management using our chosen Service Desk ticket system.
  • Establish and implement processes, procedures, tools and techniques for monitoring and managing the performance of cloud platforms and services, managing the security, performance, costs and availability of cloud-based services under agreed SLAs.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and make recommendations for adoption based on their relevance to the organiSation's goals.
  • Manage the establishment, maintenance, and development of effective working relationships between DTI Cloud Services and customer business units to identify agree and meet customer requirements for core services provided.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Experience in cloud platform engineering and operations.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in DevOps, Systems Administration, or related fields.
  • Azure or AWS Certified DevOps Engineer or similar.
  • Industry certifications, such as Microsoft, Citrix, VMware, Networking.
  • Experience working within the utilities sector and related knowledge of IT/OT opportunities and constraints.
  • Proficiency with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Strong scripting and automation skills.
  • Ability to maintain a high-level technical understanding of computer systems and data communication services.
  • Knowledge of the Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) framework and how it applies to the management of ICT services.
