Senior Engineering Specialist

Our Federal Government Client is seeking an experienced Senior Engineering Specialist to join their team. This is a 12 month contracting role. There is a hybrid working arrangement available (Minimum 3 days in the office) This role is open to QLD and VIC. This role is open to Australian Citizens with the ability to obtain a baseline clearance.

To be successful in this role you must have:

• Act as a trusted technology advisor. Provide technical leadership and guidance as required, including safety and security guidance
• Develop technical plans and monitor progress against them
• Manage the technology change process, ensuring effective configuration management and change control
• Perform systems engineering and project tasks throughout the implementation phases in accordance with Clients safety and system management policies, frameworks, guidelines and procedures
• Apply Clients internal frameworks to system level changes and projects
• Assist Projects to deliver against specified requirements
• Conduct tasks associated with technology change control and management in accordance with Clients Frameworks to ensure the integrity of the system baseline
• Maintain an appropriate base level of knowledge of current and proposed Communications, Navigation, Surveillance and Air Traffic Management systems used in Clients department and supporting Infrastructure systems
• Assist other engineering and technology staff as directed by the Team Leader
• Actively participate in cross training to develop specialised skills and technologies
• Manage assigned tasks effectively to achieve the appropriate levels of safety, quality and efficiency within schedule and allocated budget
• Maintain an effective working relationship with other Clients Australia staff and stakeholders to ensure that there is effective coordination of all activities in support of organisational objectives
• Be part of a high-performance team with an emphasis on an accountable performance culture
• Take part in the implementation of enterprise governance systems and policies, including safety, environmental, work health and safety, risk, and compliance
• Practice safety behaviours consistent with enterprise strategies, and act in accordance with work health and safety requirements
• Demonstrate safety behaviours consistent with enterprise strategies
• Identify potential system safety risks and take appropriate action to prevent, address or escalate safety related system issues eliminating any adverse impact on the system or operations.

To be considered for this role you must have:

• Completed a tertiary qualification in Engineering and be eligible for Registration as a Professional Engineer in relevant area of engineering in accordance with relevant legislation e.g. Professional Engineer Queensland (RPEQ)
• Significant experience with the application of Systems Engineering processes to unique and complex systems across multiple industries;
• Experience with engaging with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders;
• Demonstrated values-based behaviours, and ability to support organisational capability and culture;
• Excellent oral and communications skills and the ability to work independently or in a team environment;
• Previous experience with the application of aviation Safety Management Systems (desirable);
• Sound understanding of the Civil Aviation Safety Regulations Part 171 (desirable)
• Highly Desirable: Experience in designing, maintaining and supporting air traffic management systems, in particular:
  • Air-band VHF;
  • ADS-B
  • data network systems;
