Your New Role: APS 5 / 6 Rehabilitation Case Manager

Duration: 6 Months non-ongoing

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Rehabilitation Case Manager oversees the implementation of effective and sustainable return-to-work programs for ill and injured employees throughout the agency. In collaboration with the Senior Rehabilitation Case Manager, this role works closely with employees, managers, rehabilitation providers, and medical professionals, including Comcare, to facilitate the return-to-work process.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist ill or injured employees through a personalized case management approach, leveraging the expertise of rehabilitation providers as needed to promote optimal recovery and facilitate an early return to work.
  • Track and report on injury management issues, including Comcare premiums and injury trends, and recommend solutions to mitigate key risks, such as implementing early intervention strategies.
  • Conduct research and analysis to draw conclusions on relevant issues, supporting the development and coordination of policies, procedures, and/or project management efforts.
  • Build and maintain strong internal and external relationships, engaging with stakeholders on policy, project, or operational matters, and addressing their needs and expectations. Represent the agency at meetings, conferences, and seminars.
  • Provide accurate advice, guidance, and reports on the team's responsibilities and functions.
  • Make decisions and communicate effectively, using sound judgement and expertise, while adhering to legislation, regulations, best practices, and relevant operating instructions or procedures.
  • Contribute to preparation and delivery activities in line with the readiness framework, based on individual accountabilities and responsibilities.
  • Perform additional duties or take on other responsibilities as directed by Management as needed.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

    • Rehabilitation management system (RMS).

QUALIFICATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Mandatory

Strong understanding of Comcare's workers' compensation scheme and relevant legislation. Comprehensive knowledge and application of rehabilitation management frameworks, systems, and processes, including early intervention and evidence-based methods. Experience in setting priorities and delivering high-quality results within established timelines. Proven ability to communicate effectively while anticipating and addressing stakeholder needs and expectations across a geographically dispersed network. Demonstrated analytical skills with the ability to suggest and implement change, contributing to business improvement strategies. Exemplifies personal integrity while consistently achieving results within legislative and policy guidelines.

Desirable

Tertiary qualification in Human Resources, including Certificate IV in Injury Management, or equivalent work experience.
