About the role:

The Cloud Engineering Lead is responsible for leading and managing the team, strategy, roadmaps, governance, best practices, reporting, and cost-effective solution designs. This role oversees financial operations, operational health, security compliance (including risk management and vulnerability assessments), and overall analysis of Cloud Platforms, whether hosted on-premises or in the cloud (AWS, Azure, and VMware).

The cloud infrastructure platform plays a critical role in delivering a seamless user experience and supporting platforms and engineering teams as both a technology provider and manager. This key position offers technical and strategic leadership, defining the Cloud platform's direction and developing product roadmaps that align with the enterprise strategy.

At an operational level, the Cloud Engineering Lead is responsible for establishing and managing cloud platform governance and best practices to ensure a scalable, secure, reliable, and cost-efficient infrastructure. The role also contributes to Cloud Governance Standards and frameworks.

As an expert technologist with deep technical expertise across the infrastructure domain, this role involves designing and building cloud environments, driving engineering standards, and maintaining foundational technology components. The Cloud Engineering Lead will be instrumental in providing thought leadership and shaping the future technology landscape.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the development of Cloud Platform strategies, roadmaps, governance, best practices, reporting, trend analysis, and risk management, ensuring both the development and maintenance of cloud environments.
  • Take charge of designing, managing, and continuously improving cloud platforms to enhance performance and efficiency.
  • Drive the optimization of platform operations by identifying opportunities to streamline support and services.
  • Monitor and manage budgets and operational costs, implementing strategies to optimize expenses.
  • Develop and execute platform roadmaps that prioritize scalability, security, reliability, and operational efficiency.
  • Ensure reporting and analytics processes are in place to track performance and maintain service levels.

Essential Skills:

  • 10 years of IT experience, with at least 5 years in a Cloud Engineer or Cloud Manager role (AWS or Azure), ideally within a large corporate environment transitioning from on-premises to cloud-native or hybrid platforms.
  • Strong expertise in Physical, virtualized, and containerized infrastructure (Windows, VMware, AWS EC2, Azure VM, Kubernetes), Storage, backup, and archiving technologies.
  • Networking and connectivity solutions, including SD-WAN, virtual/cloud networks, VPNs, cloud-to-ground connectivity, and edge/IoT networks.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
  • Extensive experience in strategically managing AWS and Azure cloud platforms.
  • Strong understanding of DevOps and CI/CD patterns and toolchains
