Job description

We are looking for a Communications Technician to support critical communications infrastructure in a high-tech mining environment. This is your opportunity to work at the forefront of mining innovation, collaborating on a landmark project with Caterpillar. Your primary function will be to support and maintain communications systems across the mining site. The secondary function will be to deliver general IT support and assist the Mine Tech Automation team.

About the role:

  • Alternate shifts between days (6am-6pm) and nights (6pm-6am) on an 8/6 roster
  • 2 Supervisors, 12 Technicians (6 per shift), and Mine Tech Automation support on each panel
  • modern accommodation, fully equipped gym, vibrant social club, large dry and wet mess facilities

Your main responsibilities:

  • Install, maintain, and troubleshoot radio, fibre optics, CCTV, and vehicle communication systems
  • Work with leaky feeder systems (Motorola experience ideal)
  • Perform splicing, cable runs, and hardware installation
  • Support the Caterpillar Minestar and Command autonomous platform

To secure this role, you need to be able to demonstrate:

  • Experience in underground or surface mining environments
  • Strong skills in radio comms, fibre optics, CCTV, and vehicle installations
  • IT proficiency and willingness to provide site-based tech support
  • Familiarity with Caterpillar autonomous systems is highly desirable
