Our client is looking for a Lead Data Engineer to shape their data platform and strategy. You will be the leader of making technical decisions, ensuring operational excellence, best engineering practices, and strategic vision across multiple projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Act as the driving force behind data engineering decisions, ensuring best practices, scalability, and security.
• Able to work with a different range of stakeholders and be an advocate for your ideas and plans
• Own the long-term operational health of data systems, beyond delivery. Understanding change management, support models, and governance.
• Lead the strategy to migrate an on-prem data warehouse to Databricks in the cloud, defining best practices along the way.
• Work with both internal teams and external partners to ensure alignment with business goals.

What We're Looking For

• Strong experience in a senior/lead data engineer role
• 5+ years of experience in Databricks
• Strong expertise in AWS, Terraform, CI/CD pipelines.
• Deep understanding of data engineering best practices (e.g., branching strategies, system health monitoring).
• Experience with data migrations, especially moving on-prem systems to cloud.
• Involvement in day-to-day operations, knowing what happens after delivery (incident response, change requests, and long-term system support)
• Ability to own and drive technical decisions in a room full of experts.
