Job description

We are looking for a skilled and committed Network Operations Specialist to enhance our team's ability to manage and optimize network operations within various projects. In this fast-paced environment, you will play a key role in ensuring the stability, security, and efficiency of our LAN, firewall, and router systems. Your expertise in networking technologies, especially in configuring switches and routers, will be essential for maintaining smooth operations and driving ongoing improvements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Continuously assess and track network performance and security.
  • Conduct regular maintenance and updates on LAN, firewall, and router systems.
  • Provide support for projects, ensuring the quality of work before integrating it into operations.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot issues with Network and core services, middleware, and operating systems, ensuring prompt resolutions and documenting procedures to minimize impact and enhance network performance.
  • Perform a range of network administration tasks to complete service requests, including war room support and providing technical assistance to other teams.
  • Maintain system patch schedules to ensure optimal system performance, availability, and security.
  • Oversee and prioritize the management, maintenance, and development of processes for all Network infrastructure systems, including LANs, WANs, internet, intranet, and wireless systems.
  • Lead efforts to continuously improve the efficiency, reliability, and security of our network infrastructure, using insights from incidents, performance data, and industry best practices.
  • Keep detailed records of switch, firewall, and router configurations, policies, and procedures, and generate regular reports on network performance, incidents, and changes for both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Provide after-hours support as part of a rotating schedule.
  • Actively engage in Agile ceremonies, such as sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives, to ensure clear communication and alignment with team objectives.

Technical Skills:

  • Practical experience in troubleshooting Cisco hardware and software.
  • Strong understanding of current networking protocols and standards, such as TCP/IP.
  • Ability to make well-informed and logical decisions.
  • Proven leadership and project/team management experience.
  • Skilled in using network-specific troubleshooting tools and techniques for effectively diagnosing LAN, firewall, and router issues.
  • Expertise in designing and implementing LANs, including switch configurations, VLAN segmentation, and spanning tree protocol (STP).
  • Familiarity with network monitoring and management platforms, including DNAC, Vmanage, syslog, and packet analyzers.
  • Strong grasp of TCP/IP networking concepts and protocols, including IPv4/IPv6 addressing, subnetting, and DNS.
  • Experience with network infrastructure hardening and adherence to compliance standards.
  • Capability to assess and recommend emerging network technologies, tools, and methods to optimize network operations.
  • Experience in IT asset management, including maintaining component inventories and related documentation.
  • Demonstrated experience as a Senior Network Engineer or in a comparable role, specializing in network operations.
  • Extensive understanding of networking protocols, technologies, and topologies (including TCP/IP, VLANs, OSPF, BGP, MPLS, VPN, etc.).
  • Possession of relevant certifications such as CCNP or CCIE.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, enabling effective collaboration with cross-functional teams.
  • Hands-on experience working in a Cloud-based environment.
