Job description

A leading organisation is seeking an experienced Senior Program Test Manager to oversee testing processes within a major IT program. This role involves close collaboration with a systems integration partner responsible for delivering testing across multiple major releases, ensuring effective stakeholder engagement and risk management. The Program Test Manager will play a crucial role in maintaining testing quality and alignment with business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and direction to ensure testing is appropriately scoped and prioritized based on risk.

  • Act as a bridge between the program, business representatives, and the Test Team to foster collaboration.

  • Ensure business leaders understand testing obligations and assign sufficient users for test processes.

  • Guide business representatives in defining testing scope, documenting and executing test cases, and reporting defects during SIT, UAT, and PVT.

  • Ensure program scope related to testing cycles (applications, data, environments, and test artefacts) is clear and visible.

  • Monitor the governance process managed by the systems integration partner, ensuring adherence to formal test procedures and 'go/no-go' decisions.

  • Ensure quality in deliverables from the systems integration partner, including test plans, automation, performance testing, and summary reports.

Key Skills & Experience

  • Extensive experience as a Senior Test Manager, Test Director, or similar role in large-scale IT programs.

  • Proven track record of managing complex testing processes with overlapping streams.

  • Strong understanding of risk-based testing methodologies and best practices.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to bridge gaps between technical teams and business users.

  • Experience in defining testing scope, executing test cases, and defect reporting in SIT and UAT.

  • Familiarity with governance processes related to testing, including 'go/no-go' decisions and test completion sign-offs.

  • Proficiency with Jira, Zephyr, and Confluence.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in Information Technology, Test Program Management, or a related field.

  • Professional Testing Certifications (e.g., ISTQB).

  • Agile Certifications (e.g., CSM, SAFe).

Desirable Skills & Experience

  • Previous experience in the higher education sector.

  • Progress towards postgraduate qualifications or an equivalent combination of experience and education/training.

  • 10+ years of hands-on experience in Program Test Management.

  • Experience working in an agile, cross-functional team.
