Your New Organisation:
Join an esteemed Federal Government Agency as their Project and Asset Accounting Officer.


** This opportunity can be based in Canberra or Brisbane **

Your New Role:

The primary purpose of this role is to support the Financial Accounting & Reporting team in managing Financial and Asset Accounting. Key responsibilities include month-end processing, project forecast uploads, assisting with Work Breakdown Structure maintenance in SAP, and handling year-end audit requests.

The role involves close collaboration with key stakeholders to ensure compliance with Australian Accounting Standards and External Reporting requirements.

Key Requirements:

  • Essential: SAP experience.

  • Highly Desirable: Advanced Excel spreadsheet skills.

As the Project and Asset Accounting Officer, your key responsibilities will include:

Position Specific

  • Assist Financial & Asset Accounting Senior Specialist to provide accurate, relevant and timely information as required.
  • Undertake month-end and year-end accounting activities such as accruals, journals and reconciliations
  • Assist with maintaining Work Break Down Structures in SAP Process project forecast uploads in SAP
  • Process tasks associated with Staff Departures
  • Creation of Purchase Orders and Goods Receipting
  • Assist in statutory reporting requirements including annual financial statements and external audit through compilation of data and preparation of working papers
  • Work closely with the team to ensure all deliverables are met
  • Ad-hoc queries and requests as required

People

  • Maintain effective working relationships with the staff across the value chain, particularly project managers and asset planners to ensure effective coordination of all activities in support of organisational objectives.
  • Contribute significantly to the sound financial management of assets by working as an active partner to project managers and asset planners
  • Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement within the team.
  • Model agency values and demonstrate positive, constructive, and professional behaviours at all times.

Compliance, Systems and Reporting

  • Complying with all agency policies and procedures, and applicable Australian laws.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, risk, environmental and other regulations, and standards.
  • Ensure the accuracy and integrity of accounting information recorded in SAP.
  • Ensure audit readiness by maintaining strong governance processes and robust documentation on all asset related transactions.
