Job description
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Database Administrator to join our clients team and ensure the optimal performance and reliability of our clients database systems.
Note: Hourly contract role through to June 2025
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, install, and manage large-scale corporate databases.
- Ensure the security and confidentiality of data by implementing and maintaining robust access controls.
- Install, configure, and manage database software and related tools.
- Develop and execute high availability and disaster recovery strategies.
- Perform regular backups, recoveries, monitoring, tuning, cloning, scripting, patching, and upgrades.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to foster effective working relationships.
- Handle daily operational tasks and participate in project work as needed.
- Participate in a rotating on-call roster, including after-hours and weekends.
Experience:
- Extensive experience working with enterprise databases.
- Proven track record in designing, installing, and managing large corporate databases.
- Expertise in database security and access controls.
- Proficiency in installing, configuring, and managing database software.
- Strong skills in developing high availability strategies, performing backups/recoveries, and database monitoring.
- Experience managing a diverse range of stakeholders.
- Familiarity with Agile/SCRUM methodologies is desirable.
- Experience supporting Oracle, MySQL/MariaDB with Galera Clusters, or other enterprise databases.
