Job description
Our Federal Government client is seeking an experienced Senior Infrastructure Engineer to join their Canberra, Melbourne, Sydney Brisbane and Adelaide team. This is a 12 months contract with another 12 months extension option.

As a Infrastructure Engineer you will implement, manage and retire the infrastructure (including physical, virtual, networking and cloud infrastructure) that supports digital services.
To be successful in this role you must:
- Identify, review, and measure existing capacity allocation and utilisation of priority ICT environments ICT capacity reporting and analysis
- Develop data collection or monitoring solutions to meet business requirements.
- Implement data collection methods across different platforms and technologies.
- Implement data collection feeds from other monitoring tools and configuration databases (Grafana, VROPS, Elastic, Prometheus, etc).
- Maintain IT system documentation.
- Lead or assist investigations or analysis into the capacity or performance of applications and systems
- Team mentoring and coaching of members including skills and knowledge transfer.
- Liaise with Platform teams/Development Teams/Project Teams to ensure that the appropriate capacity monitoring is implemented.
To be considered for this role you must have experience with the following:
- IT infrastructure: Level 3 (SFIA): Provisions/installs, configures and maintains infrastructure services and components. Monitors, measures and reports on infrastructure load, performance and security events. Identifies operational issues and contributes to their resolution. Carries out agreed operational procedures, including backup/restore, using supplied infrastructure tools and scripts. Carries out agreed system software maintenance tasks. Automates routine system administration tasks to specifications using standard tools and basic scripting.
- Programming/software development: Level 2 (SFIA):Designs, codes, verifies, tests, documents, amends and refactors simple programs/scripts. Applies agreed standards and tools to achieve a well-engineered result. Reviews own work.
- Systems installation and removal: Level 3 (SFIA):Installs or removes hardware and/or software, using supplied installation instructions and tools, including handover to the client. Uses standard procedures and diagnostic tools to test installations, correct problems, and document results. Records details of all components that have been installed and removed. Assists users and follows agreed procedures for further help or escalation. Contributes to the development of installation procedures and standards.
