An Installation Manager in the defense sector plays a crucial role in overseeing the planning, execution, and management of the installation of systems and equipment on military platforms.
Responsibilities:
- Driving the installation plan, change, and release processes while continuously striving to improve the end-user experience.
- Developing the schedule for the build and installations of systems onboard Navy platforms.
- Ensuring the efficiency of the installation program, identifying and implementing activities to enhance program quality in support of the FIE.
- Engaging with the project team, Navy members, In Service Support Contractors (ISSC), Systems Program Offices (SPO), and support elements during installations.
- Chairing the Platform Integration Working Groups and drafting associated minutes.
- Leading the eCCPB class installation program and assisting with the OPV program.
- Assisting in the development and review of installation components, including:
- Installation Plans
- Schedules and communications artefacts
- Transport and Logistics Plans
- Transition into Service Plan
- Risk Management Plan and risk assessments
- Procurement processes
- Providing reports to WSO leadership during installations.
- Participating in and contributing to delivery team meetings and various other meetings and reviews.
- Coordinating and liaising with other relevant parties and functions within Defence.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Essential: Experience managing large ICT projects within Defence.
- Essential: Installation and IT project management expertise in delivering and supporting Defence initiatives.
- Essential: Previous experience with Navy installation and transition programs.
- Familiarity with working with Systems Program Offices (SPOs) and understanding the processes for delivering capability to the Navy.
- At least 3 years of experience in the Defence environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Project.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to produce clear and concise documentation.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Capability to work independently as well as in small teams.
- Proven skills in stakeholder and relationship management.
Desirable Skills and Experience:
- Experience with the SEA2273 project and ICT delivery.
- Background in Defence, such as being an ex-military member or APS employee.
- Confidence and ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams.
- Knowledge of eCCPB and OPV classes.
