Job description


Our client is a large Queensland government department, and they currently require a Principal Digital Specialist to join them on a contract through to Christmas.

Collaborating closely with members of the Digital Innovations and ICT teams and the Artificial Intelligence (AI) Unit, your role as the Principal Digital Specialist is to assess the emerging technology landscape and recommend options for the digital delivery of public-facing products that meet the needs of defined users.

Some of your responsibilities include:

  • Manage and execute strategies leveraging emerging technologies including AI to create products and services that can be used in the current digital experience platform of government agencies.
  • Manage emerging technology development that potentially leverages AI including ideation, requirements analysis, design, development, testing, and change management.
  • Ensure data integrity, compliance, and governance standards are maintained while leveraging various data sources to derive valuable insights into user interaction with digital assets.
  • Establish KPIs, evaluate product performance, and create reports and presentations to communicate insights, trends, and recommendations to key stakeholders.
  • Stay up to date on emerging trends, tools, and techniques in data science, machine learning, and AI to identify opportunities for process improvement and innovation.

To thrive in this role, you will need to demonstrate the following:

  • Drive the design and implementation of emerging technology products that improve user productivity through better engagement, personalisation, and retention strategies.
  • Expertise in managing complex data products in a large and complex organisation
  • Excellent coordination and team management skills to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and drive product development.
  • Familiarity with agile methodologies and rituals, such as backlog refinement, sprint planning, and daily stand-ups.
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to engage with senior stakeholders and present information to governance groups
  • Analytical mindset and ability to identify opportunities for product improvement based on user feedback and industry trends.
