An Application Integration Tester in the defense sector plays a critical role in ensuring that various software applications and systems within a defense environment work together seamlessly. This role involves specialized responsibilities due to the unique and often stringent requirements of defense projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute test plans, products, and services to meet organizational standards and end-user requirements.
  • Create test cases and procedures, providing insights into software test timing and approaches.
  • Conduct walkthroughs of test cases/scripts with Test Managers, Requirements Leads, Project Managers, and Development Leads.
  • Write test cases and scripts, identifying test data requirements for various scenarios.
  • Analyze Operational Concepts and Functional Requirements to assist in developing testing scenarios and use cases, aiming for realistic test outcomes.
  • Prepare and submit detailed test and integration reports, describing application testing outcomes and helping developers address defects.
  • Report on any defects identified at the integration level, suggesting necessary changes to applications.
  • Communicate status of activities, identified risks, and task completion to the Technical Lead/Product Line Lead, ensuring information flows upward through the chain of command.
  • Support the Warfighting Applications Product Line Manager by providing timely advice on schedule and risks associated with Application T&E activities.

Minimum Requirements:

  • 2-5 years of experience as part of a Test and Evaluation team, with a strong emphasis on ADF C2 application testing and usage.
  • Proficiency with Test and Evaluation tools, frameworks, and implementation techniques.
  • Military-based experience within the ADF, particularly with C2 System applications such as BMS, GCCS, TBMCS JADOCS, C2Chat, and server/client communication applications. This includes updating and maintaining as-built systems, server configurations, connectivity drawings, diagrams, and documentation, as well as automating, supporting, and testing multi-vendor geographically dispersed solutions.
  • Proven experience in software testing as part of a Dev/Sec/Ops delivery pipeline, including test automation, continuous testing, and version control.
  • Familiarity with testing in environments with varying security levels, caveats, and controls.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills with demonstrated experience in presenting and engaging with stakeholders, projects, and business areas.
  • Ability to analyze complex requirements and design documents to create detailed test cases and scripts.
  • NV1 or NV2 Security Clearance is mandatory to have.

Desirable Skills:

  • In-depth knowledge of system and software testing throughout the lifecycle, including integration and testing methodologies and best practices.
  • Experience working with application development, testing, integration, and troubleshooting in complex Defence projects or similar environments.
  • Experience working in highly secure environments.
  • Familiarity with the implementation, assessment, and testing of capabilities within a Software Defined Data Centre model.
  • Understanding of International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
  • Experience working in an Agile/Scrum development process.
  • Demonstrated experience with secure development, coding, testing, and engineering practices in line with Dev/Sec/Ops requirements.
