Job description

Our Federal Government client is seeking an experienced APS 6 Data Project Assurance Officer to join their Canberra or Brisbane team. This is a fixed term 12 month non-ongoing role with the view of becoming permanent. S26 Transfers are also available for this role.

You will be required to undertake a range of responsibilities, sometimes under limited direction and to engage a range of stakeholder groups to build project, program, or monitoring and evaluation capability across the agency You may be required to undertake research and data analysis, and must be someone who thrives in a fast-paced changing work environment, where the team needs to deliver quality work within tight deadlines and with competing priorities.

To be successful in this role you must:

  • Develop and apply knowledge of agency's administered program practices, policies and processes to draw enterprise insights on emergent challenges and opportunities.
  • Ensure the accuracy and timeliness of reporting with internal agency stakeholders to drive strategic decision-making.
  • Conduct assurance activities according to defined processes and frameworks to inform strategic decision-making.
  • Document, review and update training and guidance material including guides, intranet content, and process flows to assist in capability uplift and communication of changes to current practice.
  • Work with project managers to undertake evaluations of their projects against established frameworks and standards.
  • Collaborate with project managers and subject matter experts to define reporting needs and identify opportunities to improve information accuracy and streamline workflows.
  • Support the efficient running of senior executive Committees through administrative support of the secretariat when required, and maintenance of actions and decisions registers.
  • Build and sustain relationships with data, analytics and technical branches who support delivery of systems and solutions for data governance, insights generation and information management.
  • Contribute to the collection, storage, and maintenance of project information and data, to help ensure information accuracy and completeness.

To be considered for this role you must:

  • Hold, or have the ability to gain, a Baseline security clearance
  • Minimum 5 years applying analytical skills to interpret and evaluate information, and an ability understand and communicate the "data story" in a range of reporting and insight products.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement, negotiation and problem solving skills.
  • Evaluations and Insights role only - have demonstrated experience or expertise in one or more of the following areas:
    • Developing and implementing monitoring and evaluation frameworks
    • Supporting the management of consultants to conduct evaluations
    • Conducting evaluations and or large research projects
    • Supporting evaluation capability building activities
    • Tertiary or post-graduate qualifications in economics, evaluation, social sciences, psychology or statistics will be highly regarded.
  • Program Governance and Assurance role only - have an understanding of project management life-cycle principles and apply basic project management skills and knowledge, such as scheduling, risks and issue management, benefits measurement and budgeting.
