Our Federal Government client is seeking an experienced Infrastructure Engineer to join their Canberra team. This is a 12 month contract role. This role is open for Australian citizens with the ability to obtain an NV1 security clearance.

As a Infrastructure Engineer you will be accountable for the design, implementation, and operation of the agency's Data Centre network infrastructure including Cisco ACI, Cisco Nexus, F5, network appliances and associated routing and switching.
To be successful in this role you must:
- Plan and manage infrastructure requirements to meet future infrastructure demand
- Ensure the provision of infrastructure related operational support for hardware, software and other assets
- Define effective procedures for prioritisation and escalation of infrastructure issues to ensure timely resolution
- Communicate end-to-end implications of configuration changes
- Analyse the quality of requests for change management
- Provide detailed, specialist technical advice, including strategic advice to the Executive where appropriate
- Proactively share knowledge and expertise as the subject matter expert, and provide assistance and mentorship to less experienced colleagues
- Develop and implement standards, strategies, operational policy and procedures and change initiatives
- Oversee operations of teams, including providing a clear sense of direction, setting work priorities and managing resources
- Develop staff capability through coaching, mentoring and succession planning
- Negotiate with suppliers and third-party vendors in the purchase of technology equipment
- Oversee the development, delivery and performance of contracted goods and services
- Oversee team contribution to cost analysis activities
- Oversee, review and advise on a range of technical documentation including design documentation, implementation plans, test plans, and support procedures
- Negotiate, engage and manage relationships with other agencies and service providers to build service delivery capability
- Attend interagency meetings and forums to influence business outcomes and share information
- Drive innovation, continuous improvement and manage and lead change
- Set direction by contributing to local business plans and ICT strategies
- Exercise delegations in accordance with legislation and guidelines
To be considered for this role you must:
- Plan and lead the identification and assessment of emerging technologies and the evaluation of potential impacts, threats and opportunities. Create technology roadmaps that align organisational plans with emerging technology solutions. Engage with, and influence, relevant stakeholders to obtain organisational commitment to technology roadmaps. Develops organisational guidelines for monitoring emerging technologies. Collaborate with internal and external parties to facilitate intelligence gathering.
- Apply and maintain specific security controls as required by organisational policy and local risk assessments. Communicates security risks and issues to business managers and others. Perform basic risk assessments for small information systems. Contribute to the identification of risks that arise from potential technical solution architectures. Suggest alternate solutions or countermeasures to mitigate risks. Defines secure systems configurations in compliance with intended architectures. Supports investigation of suspected attacks and security breaches.
- Manage the innovation pipeline and executes innovation processes. Develop and adapt innovation tools, processes and infrastructures to drive the process of innovation. Identify resources and capabilities needed to support innovation. Encourage and motivate innovation communities, teams and individuals to share creative ideas and learn from failures.
- Contribute to the development of solution architectures in specific business, infrastructure or functional areas. Identify and evaluate alternative architectures and the trade-offs in cost, performance and scalability. Determine and documents architecturally significant decisions. Produces specifications of cloud-based or on-premises components, tiers and interfaces, for translation into detailed designs using selected services and products. Supports projects or change initiatives through the preparation of technical plans and application of design principles. Aligns solutions with enterprise and solution architecture standards (including security).
- Provide definitive and expert advice in their specialist area. Actively maintains recognised expert level knowledge in one or more identifiable specialisms. Oversee the provision of specialist advice by others. Consolidates expertise from multiple sources, including third-party experts, to provide coherent advice to further organisational objectives. Supports and promotes the development and sharing of specialist knowledge within the organisation.
- Design large or complex systems and undertakes impact analysis on major design options and trade-offs. Ensure that the system design balances functional and non-functional requirements. Review systems designs and ensure that appropriate methods, tools and techniques are applied effectively. Make recommendations and assesses and manages associated risks. Adopts and adapts system design methods, tools and techniques. Contributes to development of system design policies, standards and selection of architecture components.
