About the Role:
The IT Project Manager will manage large, complex IT projects that deliver significant business and technical outcomes. This role provides leadership across assigned projects, building strong working relationships with project sponsors, stakeholders, and vendors. The successful candidate will work within a supportive and dynamic environment, delivering essential ICT infrastructure, systems, and digital transformation initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of complex IT projects aligned with strategic objectives.
* Manage project resources, budgets, schedules, risks, issues, and scope changes.
* Work closely with business stakeholders to ensure that technical solutions meet business needs.
* Ensure compliance with project management methodologies (PMBOK, PRINCE2, or equivalent).
* Manage vendor relationships and oversee contract deliverables.
* Coordinate solution testing, integration, deployment, and transition to operational services.
* Build and maintain effective relationships with senior officers, managers, and project sponsors.
* Mentor and support project team members to contribute to the uplift of project management capability within the organisation.
Essential Requirements:
* Proven experience managing large and complex IT projects, delivering significant business change.
* Expertise in project management activities including scheduling, budgeting, risk/issue management, and reporting.
* Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, both written and verbal.
* Demonstrated understanding of PMBOK, PRINCE2 or similar methodologies.
* Knowledge of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) and application development best practices.
* Ability to manage cross-functional teams and work collaboratively in a team environment.
* Commitment to Equity, Diversity, Workplace Health and Safety (WH&S), and Risk Management principles.
Desirable:
* Previous experience delivering IT projects in a policing, emergency services, or public sector environment.
* Knowledge of Government procurement practices.
* Formal qualifications in Project or Program Management.
