Job description
We are seeking a proactive, inquisitive, and commercially minded Operating Model Business Analyst to join a high-impact operational transformation program at a globally recognised university. This program is laser-focused on achieving cost savings whilst maintaining or enhancing service quality across teaching, research, and operations.
This is not an IT Business Analyst role and not a typical project delivery position-this is about business-wide process optimisation, operational sustainability, and economies of scale. If you're someone who can break down complex business operations, map end-to-end value chains, and identify scalable efficiencies, we want to hear from you!
š” Why this role matters
The university's current operating model is no longer financially sustainable-costs are too high, and efficiencies must be found. This role is crucial in identifying how the institution can deliver the same (or better) service quality at a lower cost while adapting to evolving industry challenges.
What You'll Be Doing
ā Analyse the organisation at a macro level - break down processes into value chains, economies of scale, and cost-efficiency models.
ā Develop and refine operating models - assess existing structures and create financially sustainable service delivery frameworks.
ā Map end-to-end university operations - from student recruitment to graduation, research funding strategies, and workforce planning.
ā Identify cost savings opportunities - evaluate the true cost of service delivery across on-campus, blended, and virtual learning.
ā Engage with senior stakeholders - collaborate with leadership and key decision-makers to align analysis with the university's strategic priorities.
ā Support business case development for change - including restructuring and workforce planning with maturity and empathy.
ā Provide insights on financial sustainability - assess revenue generation, research investment, and cost per service unit.
What We're Looking For
ā
A true Business Analyst - You ask the right questions, do the research, and uncover inefficiencies others miss.
ā
Process Mapping Expertise - You have deep experience in "As-Is" and "To-Be" process mapping and process optimisation at scale.
ā
Commercially Minded - You understand the cost of service delivery, economies of scale, and operational efficiency models.
ā
Big-Picture Thinker - You can zoom out to see the macro problem rather than getting lost in the details.
ā
Stakeholder Savvy - You can confidently engage C-suite leaders, academic staff, and operational teams to drive alignment.
ā
Empathetic & Mature - You understand that transformation involves people, not just processes.
Essential Skills & Experience
š¹ Proven experience in business-wide process optimisation (not just project-level improvements).
š¹ Strong ability to translate complex business operations into clear, actionable insights.
š¹ Experience working in large, complex organisations with multiple stakeholders.
š¹ Ability to work across people, process, and technology change initiatives.
š¹ Strong understanding of financial sustainability, cost of service delivery, and business analysis frameworks.
š¹ Exceptional stakeholder engagement skills, including with executive leadership.
Nice-to-Have (But Not Required)
ā Experience in higher education OR startup-like transformation projects.
ā Familiarity with Higher Education Reference Models and sector-wide challenges.
ā Understanding of research funding models, student lifecycle management, or workforce planning
ā Knowledge of Lean Six Sigma, Value Stream Mapping, or other process improvement methodologies.
š Why You Should Apply
- Be part of a mission-critical transformation in one of the world's leading universities.
- Work with top-tier leadership in a role that directly impacts financial and operational sustainability.
- Join a high-calibre team of analysts and strategists driving real change.
- Hybrid work from home model / 2-3 days in office!
