Job description

Role Summary:

An opportunity exists for a Senior Cyber Engineer to play a key role in ensuring the secure design, implementation, and operation of IT systems across government agencies. Reporting to the Deputy Director, Service Design & Integration, this role focuses on integrating robust security controls into products and services, with a strong emphasis on a government-wide security and performance logging solution.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide expert security engineering advice on security best practices, risk assessment, and technical security controls.
  • Lead the design, implementation, and enforcement of security architectures, policies, and compliance frameworks.
  • Ensure security services such as authentication, authorization, monitoring, auditing, and incident response are effectively implemented.
  • Contribute to governance and compliance in cybersecurity, ensuring adherence to relevant industry and government standards.
  • Develop and maintain security mechanisms to uphold system integrity and protection.
  • Support annual cybersecurity programs and reporting requirements in alignment with security frameworks.

Key Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong knowledge of security engineering, risk assessment, and compliance frameworks.
  • Experience with security architectures, technical security controls, and secure system development.
  • Proficiency in security monitoring, auditing, and incident response.
  • Hands-on experience with SIEM log management (highly advantageous).

Mandatory Requirements:

  • Possession of a National Police Clearance before commencing.
  • Willingness to undergo AGSVA security clearance (Baseline or NV1) post-commencement, if required.

Preferred Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Industry certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CEH, or equivalent (preferred).
  • Experience working in a government or highly regulated environment (desirable).
