Job description

Our client, a globally recognised leader in the mining sector, is seeking a Telecommunications Engineer (12M Renewable Contract) to join their growing team. This is not a FIFO position; however, occasional domestic travel may be required for on-site support. The primary focus of this role will be ensuring the ongoing health and continuity of the existing telecommunications infrastructure.

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily health checks on telecommunications infrastructure to ensure optimal performance.
  • Analyse and report on trends related to equipment health, functionality, and performance.
  • Update monitoring tools to incorporate newly commissioned infrastructure and systems.
  • Coordinate and support contractors and internal staff during on-site works, ensuring smooth execution.
  • Attend site to troubleshoot technical faults, conduct ad-hoc maintenance, or support project work as needed.
  • Review, interpret, and update documentation to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Develop test plans and manage the execution of change management processes.

Requirements

  • Extensive experience and expertise in:

    • Analogue radio systems
    • Digital radio systems (DMR)
    • Point-to-Point microwave systems
    • Point-to-Multipoint systems
    • Building Management Systems (BMS)
    • UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply) systems
    • Solar power systems
  • Experience with IP-based phone systems, IP networks, and network management systems is highly desirable.
  • Proven experience in the design, installation, commissioning, and change management of telecommunications systems, in both on-site and remote environments.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting capabilities, with a proactive approach to issue resolution.
  • Minimum of 4 years of relevant industry experience.
  • Recognised qualifications in telecommunications engineering, communications, or a related field.
  • Registered ACMA cabling license is preferred.
