Cyber Security Analyst
Contract: Initial 6 months
Location: Canberra, ACT (Flexible working arrangements)
Security Clearance: Baseline (Australian Citizenship Required)
About the Role:
We are seeking a skilled Cyber Security Analyst to manage critical security tools, respond to incidents, and contribute to ongoing security improvements. You will be working closely with internal stakeholders to ensure systems remain secure and compliant with Australian security standards.
You'll have the opportunity to apply your expertise in tools like Tenable One, Splunk, and Microsoft Azure security platforms, while also engaging in vulnerability management and incident response.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and maintain the vulnerability scanning tool (Tenable One) and develop Splunk dashboards for reporting.
- Conduct vulnerability assessments, mitigate threats, and remediate vulnerabilities using Tenable Nessus.
- Participate in security assessments, gap analysis, and penetration testing with external vendors.
- Investigate and respond to complex cyber security incidents, ensuring compliance with the ACSC's Essential 8 framework.
- Assist in managing potential data or privacy breaches and support security policy development.
- Collaborate with IT and enterprise architecture teams to ensure projects are secure by design.
- Work with security leads to determine appropriate policies and processes for the organisation.
Must have:
- At least 3 years of hands-on experience in cybersecurity roles within government or medium-large private enterprises.
- Proficiency in Tenable One, Splunk, and Microsoft Azure security tools (Defender, e-Discovery, PureView, EntraID).
- Expertise in Security Incident and Event Management (SIEM) systems (e.g., Splunk, Microsoft Sentinel).
- Experience with Security Orchestration and Automation technologies.
- Strong knowledge of PSPF, ISM, Essential 8, and ISO/IEC 27001:2022 frameworks.
- 3+ years of experience applying security controls in a hybrid cloud environment.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Eligibility Requirements:
- Australian Citizenship.
- Baseline Security Clearance, with the ability to obtain and maintain a higher clearance.
