Job description

  • 12 month contract
  • ACT based preferred
  • MUST be an Australian Citizen
  • Must hold a current Security Clearance - baseline / NV1/ NV2

Provide Senior APIC consulting services including architecture, installation, configuration, and troubleshooting . Working with APIC Product management and support team to provide innovative and stable solutions

Key Responsibilities:

  • API Design & Development:
    Design, develop, and deploy RESTful and SOAP APIs using IBM API Connect and related tools. Develop custom policies, microservices, and secure API gateway configurations.
  • API Management:
    Oversee the full API lifecycle from creation to monitoring and versioning. Manage API security policies, access control, rate limiting, and error handling. Ensure proper logging and monitoring practices are followed.
  • Integration Architecture:
    Collaborate with architects and engineers to define API strategies and integration patterns. Design integration solutions for complex systems and services, ensuring reliability and scalability.
  • Collaboration with Teams:
    Work closely with development, operations, and QA teams to deliver end-to-end solutions. Provide guidance on best practices for API design, performance optimization, and security.
  • Performance Optimization:
    Conduct performance tuning and troubleshoot issues related to APIs, ensuring low-latency and high-throughput performance under heavy load.
  • Documentation & Training:
    Create comprehensive API documentation for both internal and external users. Conduct training sessions and provide technical mentorship to junior developers on API best practices and IBM API Connect features.
  • Security & Compliance:
    Ensure APIs are developed with proper security measures (OAuth, JWT, API keys, etc.) and in compliance with industry standards (GDPR, SOC 2, etc.). Work closely with security teams to address vulnerabilities and maintain secure environments.
  • Continuous Improvement:
    Stay updated with industry trends, new API management technologies, and best practices. Proactively suggest improvements to development and integration processes.

Soft skills - ability to join the client team, excellent communication (verbal and written)
