Senior Project Manager
- Contract Duration: Until June 2025, with the possibility of 2x 12-month extensions
- Location: Canberra, ACT
- Work Arrangement: Hybrid, with 3 days WFH available
About the Role
We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Project Manager, specialising in federal government sector. The ideal candidate will have a strong command of project management practices, organisational change management, financial management, requirements management, quality management, stakeholder relationship management, and performance management.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage project activities (business and ICT) across highly complex ICT projects to achieve project milestones and objectives.
- Develop high-standard project documentation in accordance with the Department's methodology within specified timeframes.
- Prepare and maintain the project schedule.
- Manage project risks and issues, escalating as necessary.
- Prepare progress reports.
- Oversee project resources and dependencies.
- Prepare and manage project budgets.
- Facilitate and conduct requirements progress meetings, presentations, and workshops.
- Foster a positive team ethos within the immediate workgroup through active participation and communication.
- Develop and maintain strong, effective working relationships with key management personnel and internal clients.
- Travel interstate as required.
- Produce and manage project-related documents, including Project Initiation Documents, stage plans, schedules, specifications, change management artefacts, and other high-level plans.
- Create benefit profiles, project budgets and forecasts, dependency maps, project reports, and risk, actions, decisions, and issues registers.
- Complete other documentation as directed or required.
Skills and Experience Required
- Agile Methodology: Proven experience in applying Agile methodology.
- Financial Management (Level 4, SFIA): Ability to monitor and maintain financial records to meet compliance and audit requirements. Experience in identifying and calculating process, service, project, and component costs for financial planning and budgeting.
- Organisational Change Management (Level 6, SFIA): Define and communicate change management approaches for significant parts of the organisation. Initiate, plan, and lead strategic, large, and complex change management initiatives. Provide guidance and raise awareness to help change leaders demonstrate effective behaviours to deliver organisational change.
- Project Management (Level 6, SFIA): Take full responsibility for the definition, documentation, and successful completion of complex projects. Adapt project management methods and tools. Ensure effective project monitoring, control processes, change control, risk management, and quality processes are employed and maintained.
- Requirements Definition and Management (Level 5, SFIA): Plan and drive scoping, requirements definition, and prioritisation activities for large, complex initiatives. Select, adopt, and adapt appropriate requirements definition and management methods, tools, and techniques. Contribute to the development of organisational methods and standards for requirements management.
- Stakeholder Relationship Management: Develop and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders to ensure project success.
Eligibility requirements
Due to the nature of the role, Australian citizenship with Baseline security clearance is mandatory.
