Job description

APS 6 Project manager

  • 12 months contract with possible extensions
  • Location: Sydney
  • Estimated Start: Jan 2025

Work as a APS6 Project manager in a collaborative team and enjoy working in a contemporary environment in a dynamic and results driven government agency on a multiyear project.

Responsibilities

  • Undertaking project management activities including the planning, documenting and implementing , monitoring and reporting on progress and project milestones, and proactively identifying solutions.
  • Identifying, mitigating and resolving risks, assumptions, issues and dependencies in relation to project and contract management activities.
  • Coordinating communications, including scheduling and documenting project meetings, including the preparation of agenda papers, minutes and other administrative tasks.
  • Developing and maintain key working relationships with internal and external stakeholders and update internal stakeholders
  • Undertaking contract management activities including financial administration, budget preparation and monitoring as required.
  • Working with the Director, the project team and other relevant stakeholders on updates related to the progress and strategic implications
  • Collaborating with other team members to support the work of the team.
  • Supporting other projects associated with classification development as required and other tasks as delegated by the Director.

Skills and experience

  • Highly developed project management, time management and organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Highly developed professionalism and interpersonal skills to liaise, collaborate, and build productive stakeholder relationships.
  • Highly developed written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to engage at all levels including technical and non-technical audience.
  • Demonstrated ability in contributing to and working as part of a multi-disciplinary team, as well as being proactive and working independently under broad direction
  • Proven ability to plan, prioritise and organise workloads to meet agreed timeframes or non-negotiable deadlines.
  • Ability to provide secretariat skills to support meetings with stakeholders, with high accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Sound decision making skills, incorporating initiative and professional judgement where necessary.
  • Proven ability to adapt to changing circumstances or requirements
  • Demonstrated experience working in an environment dominated by policy and stakeholder constraints.

Requirements/qualifications

  • Candidates must have a recent Australian Federal Police check.
  • Qualifications in project management desirable.
  • Experience in natural language processing (NLP) or artificial intelligence (AI) software and/or health information management would be an advantage.
