Job description
Our client is a large government organisation based in Ipswich, north of Brisbane. They are looking to bring on a Data Engineering Specialist with a focus on developing and maintaining data pipelines and architecture. This role requires 2 office days per week with the rest being from home. This is initially a contract through to June 2025.
The Role:
This role requires expertise in data transformation, integration, and automation using CI/CD practices to support organisational data needs effectively. The successful candidate will play a vital role in promoting a data-driven culture and empowering stakeholders with actionable insights.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain data transformation processes to facilitate data transfer between systems.
- Build and manage data models, reports, and dashboards that meet the evolving needs of diverse teams.
- Provide guidance to data users on appropriate data model utilisation.
- Follow and advocate for data governance and development policies.
- Stay informed on emerging technologies and provide recommendations for their application.
- Adhere to workplace safety, quality, and environmental standards.
Qualifications:
- Essential: Experience in data transformation, ETL development, and integration; proficiency with Microsoft SQL Server, Power BI, and TSQL scripting.
- Desirable: Familiarity with Microsoft Power Platform and Tableau.
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong analytical skills for data integration, extraction, and quality analysis.
- Deep understanding of data quality, security, and AGILE methodologies.
- Proficient in data modelling and analytics platforms.
- Effective communicator with diverse teams, able to document technical solutions clearly.
- Creative in data representation through reports and dashboards.
