Job description

We are seeking a seasoned professional to assume the role of Principal Engineer with a strong background in DevSecOps who brings unparalleled expertise to redefine the landscape for this key Queensland Government Department.

Key Leadership Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Architectural Direction: Collaborate closely with the Product Manager and QGCDG Directors to provide strategic direction for product development, enhancements, and support for common Digital Identity and Microservice platforms.

  • Thought Leadership: Foster a culture of excellence within the team, instilling a product-centric mindset, and leading continuous iteration and improvement initiatives to deliver sophisticated digital products and services.

  • Compliance Oversight: Ensure meticulous adherence to all relevant legislative and government standards, overseeing operations, processes, and practices with an unwavering commitment to excellence.

  • Strategic Availability: Maintain an executive-level presence, being available for strategic on-call duties, and undertaking after-hours work during critical project stages.

About You:

  • Architectural Expertise: Showcase distinguished expertise in extending or developing in Keycloak or Red Hat SSO, coupled with a profound understanding of other Identity Management platforms, particularly those rooted in open source.

  • Identity Management Authority: Exhibit extensive knowledge of Identity Federation and protocols such as OpenID Connect, OAuth, SAML, and Directory Services technologies, including LDAPv3.

  • Tech Leadership: Demonstrate mastery in developing Java/JEE, Reactive Microservices, and RESTful API services. Leverage command of technologies like SQL, JSON, XML, Postgres, Deployment Automation, Automation Testing (Junit, Selenium/Playwright), Spring Boot, Maven, and Linux/Unix Operating Systems.

  • Tech Savvy Extraordinaire: Bring extensive experience working with UI libraries and design systems to the forefront, showcasing expertise in HTML5, CSS frameworks, responsive design (React).

  • Strategic Agility: Thrive in an agile and DevSecOps environment, exhibiting leadership in collaboration and continuous improvement. Navigate effortlessly through Cloud technologies on AWS, Azure, GCP, Containers, Kubernetes deployment platforms, CI/CD, and automation through GitHub actions for deployment to AWS.

  • Tool Mastery: Command tools like JIRA, Confluence, and GitHub, demonstrating the ability to orchestrate technological symphonies.
